honduras christmas team
a very happy day, indeed
Our small but mighty team of 5 left on Thursday Dec. 5 for Tegucigalpa where we spent several hours shopping for shoes which were so generously donated by a number of our donors and via on-line donations through the website. We made it out to the Ranch in time to play some games with the kids....and that is what this team is all about the kids! Once again
Sodaville (OR) Evangelical Church provided each child with a gift and purchasing lots of great quality clothing and other items. We also have never seen so many gifts to the kids from their sponsors as we have this year...Wow a lot went into packing it all within the bags available to this small team. If it keeps up like this (and we hope it does), we will need a lot more people next year on the team.
So thank you to everyone who made the best Christmas ever for the Proyecto Manuelito kids.
Please pray for our team as we head home tomorrow after saying our sad goodbyes in the morning. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support all this week.
Deck the Halls!
We spent most of Monday decorating the dining hall, inspecting and repackaging the gifts, spending a lot of time with the kids, and meeting with staff...busy, just like Christmas at home, only on a much larger scale.
One little hiccup...several of us are not feeling very well. What will tommorrow bring?
Christmas Party Today
We need energy & prayers
The kids are excited...but most of us are full-fledged sick. There has been so much building up to this that we can't believe that over half of us are feeling like this. We are sure that the Christmas party will go off without a hitch (any others anyway) and the kids will have a fantastic time...just pray that we have the energy and can enter into the festivities in a real way as we bring the joy of Christmas alive.
Christmas Party II
The Look on Their Faces...
The Christmas party was full of laughter, singing, joy & excitement. The kids love receiving new clothes & shoes. The look on their faces as they opened their gifts will always stay with me. Dave & I are thankful to be a very small part of bringing happiness to the children of Manuelito. Hope Teams is incredible & the staff of Manuelito love & serve the children 24/7.
So Sad to Go
When you come to the Ranch here in Talanga and see and play with the children of Proyecto Manuelito you never want to leave. We had a tremendous time with the children and the staff...being able to be Santa for ALL of them. Thank you all for making this possible.
Honduras Christmas Team
This team will pack and deliver Christmas Presents to children who are orphaned and street kids. Lots of clothing, toys, hygiene products and other items.
Rescuing Street Kids
Headed by Pastor Jorge Pinto, this ministry rescues kids from the streets and offering them a chance at life. There are two facilities: a Transition House in Tegucigalpa and a Ranch an hour away in Talanga. This team will work at both the Transition House and on the Ranch. There are more than 40 children and youth in the project.
